I led the redesign of an internal financial admin portal used daily across multiple finance teams, with a strong focus on accessible UI, visual hierarchy for complex client data, and UX principles centered on efficiency and human factors.

The portal’s design makes it difficult for the team to complete day-to-day tasks efficiently, often requiring excessive time to cross-check data and limiting the clear visibility of information.

I created the information architecture of the portal and conducted user interviews to understand how each pages are used, then prototyped the screens on Figma based on a roadmap I created for the duration of this project.

The portal’s design makes it difficult for the team to complete day-to-day tasks efficiently, often requiring excessive time to cross-check data and limiting the clear visibility of information.

Organize the information by hierarchy. The submerchant lists are no longer populated right next to the vendor level list, but they are shown visible inside each vendor's page to prevent confusion and cross-checking between the vendors.

Utilizing the design system to reduce user's cognitive load. I swapped the below text information with colorful status bars to help a user swiftly distinguish what they’re looking at without having to stop and read.

Additional information such as payment failure reasons are modified with intuitive UI and can be found through hovering over a column, reducing text overload and cluttering.

Sensitive actions such as rejecting clients' applications are tucked away in a 2-click process in order to minimize human error for unintentional action.

In the final few weeks, I created an interactive prototype to share with the team and conducted user tests to iterate any changes to the screens. After the tests, the team was happy with the results and notified me that they will plan to update the portal according to my screens as their next project. If I had more time, I would have liked to spend more time refining the page designs to enforce faster task completions by teams, as the portal itself was very dense.
